More information coming soon…
Join us for Part III of our special Game Changers Live series “Title IX at 40: The Global Impact” as we take a broader look at the legislation & the impact it has had throughout the sports industry. Joining us is former WNBA President, Val Ackerman who played a tremendous role in the establishment of the longest running women’s professional league in the United States. Ackerman, an adjunct professor at Columbia University and regular blogger on espnW, will offer great insight into the role Title IX has played for athletes, governing bodies, colleges, and corporations.
Tune in at 1:00pm EST to hear from one of the most influential people in women’s sports.
We’ll also continue to track Lin-sanity, discuss the start of the NFL Scouting Combine in Indy, and make our picks for the NBA Slam Dunk contest!
Game Changers Live celebrates Black History Month as Theresa Moore, Executive Producer of the documentary “Third and Long”, joins us live to discuss her exciting new project about the National Football League.
Narrated by hip-hop icon Chuck D, “Third and Long” is a unique, two-part documentary that explores and celebrates the history, racial struggles, sacrifices and triumphs of African Americans in professional football from 1946, with the re-integration of the sport after a 13-year exclusion of Black players, through 1989, when Art Shell was named the first Black head coach of the NFL’s modern era.
The NFL Network is set to premiere the ground-breaking documentary “Third and Long: African Americans in Pro Football 1946-1989″ this week. Episode 1 premieres Tuesday, February 14th at 8:00pm EST. Episode 2 premieres the next day, Wednesday, February 15th, at 8:00 pm EST.
Tune in to GCL on February 15th at 1:00pm EST as the hosts interview Theresa and cover a variety of topics that have happened in the sports scene over the last week. We, of course, will discuss Lin-sanity as well!
We look forward to you joining us for A New View from the Sidelines on Wednesday!
Game Changers Live continues it’s special series in honor of the 40th Anniversary of Title IX with this week’s show: “Title IX at 40: The Impact on College Athletics.” While this legislation has had a tremendous impact on the evolution of women’s sports and women in sports, there are those that are in strong opposition of Title IX. Kevin Barnett, 2-time Olympian (Indoor Volleyball) and founder of The Volleyball Network) has a strong opinion and will join GCL to tell us why he is in opposition. We’ll also be joined by Kathy DeBoer who will tell us why she is a huge proponent of Title IX. After spending 20+ years in collegiate athletics in various capacities (administrator, coach, and player), Kathy DeBoer currently serves as the Executive Director of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) and continues to speak about the merits of competition for women.
The hosts will join Kathy & Kevin in an in-depth dialogue about the current state of Title IX and the future of the legislation. We will also recap Super Bowl XLVI (the commercials & the game) and cover other interesting topics in the sports world.
Tune in at 1:00 pm ET/10:00am PT on Wednesday, February 8th.
Join Game Changers Live as we celebrate NGWSD with the first segment in our GCL Title IX Series: The Voice of the Athlete.
We will be joined by special guests the legendary Nancy Lieberman and 2011 WNBA MVP Tamika Catchings. The show will focus on the impact Title IX has had on their lives.
